Parents/Educators Work with Children to:
Are you frustrated with student behavior? Would you like to see your students get along better. Bullying is starting in preschool, as young as age 3! Parents and educators are frustrated that there hasn't been a solution to this problem. In spite of anti-bullying legislation in all 50 states; bullying is still a huge problem for administrations. Many of the policies adopted by schools are reactive; dealing with bullying issues after the fact. Though those are necessary, they aren't getting to the root of the problem.
We have now identified a bullying cycle: The cycle begins with rudeness or incivility, which can lead to bullying, which can then escalate into violence. The challenge is addressing the beginning of the cycle, the rudeness or incivility, which is the easiest part of the cycle to address. Research is now supporting social skills, or social competence training, at young ages, as the missing link in preventing the rudeness, incivility, and ultimately bullying.
What is needed is proactive social skills and bullying prevention programs. Cool Kind Kid has been involved with developing social skills activities and anti-bullying educational lessons for many years. Students exposed to our elementary curriculum have demonstrated changed behavior as they learn the social skills tools they need to get along with one another. As Cool Kind Kid redefines "cool" for kids, the motivation for bullying is considerably weakened. Kids learn that, "The KIND kid is the COOL kid, not the bully."
